Seafood Scotland is the national trade and marketing body for Scottish Seafood and is a non-commercial organisation that supports Scottish Seafood companies exporting to international markets around the world.

Seafood Scotland can assist buyers in locating the right companies to supply a diverse range of Scottish seafood including Salmon, whitefish, Shellfish, Crab and lobster.

Seafood Scotland is committed to leading the industry in minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. And the Scottish industry is highly managed and regulated to ensure responsible fishing practices are employed.  Scotland holds the most MSC accreditations of all EU countries and has been a poineer of alternative approaches.

The key points of its strategy to achieve this are:

  • Improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

  • Using more recycled materials and sending less to landfill

    Seafood Scotland’s work has a positive impact on the environment as it promotes fish sustainability and improves efficiencies in the supply chain, minimising wastage. One of the underpinning principles of Seafood Scotland’s work is to maximise the value of Scottish seafood through maintaining and increasing national and international awareness and demand. As the availability of seafood is finite it is essential to minimise any wastage, and to ensure that production efficiencies are optimised. Seafood Scotland works to meet growing demands for responsible sourcing throughout the supply chain by encouraging uptake of third part accreditation including the Friends of the Sea Certification and the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) accreditation for sustainable fisheries and Chain of Custody Certification and the standard for the Aquaculture Stewardship council (ASC).
