Our mission at Industry.co is to make service and hospitality professionals more likely to succeed in their careers. 

 We started Industry because we saw the following problems facing the Hospitality Industry:

  1. Paper resumes do not showcase the skills and talents that matter most in the hospitality industry. You can't see someones passion, skill, or personality.
  2. Craigslist is not a trustworthy platform for finding jobs and is simply a black hole for job seekers. Restaurants waste time and money posting jobs on Craigslist and end up connecting with people without real hospitality experience.
  3. The Industry is all about who you know but before Industry there was not a platform that hourly workers used to brand themselves and connect professionally.
  4. The hospitality industry has one of the highest turnover rates of any industry.

Our solution and how Industry works:

  1. Industry.co is an online community for hospitality professionals, not just a job website. On Industry, hospitality professionals create profiles that replace their resumes. Hospitality professionals use these profiles to brand themselves professionally, to connect with mentors, share content, and apply for jobs. We are eliminating the need for a paper resume.

    NATIONWIDE ANALYSIS OF LINE COOKS WAGES SHOWS DISPARITY BETWEEN AVERAGE SALARY AND COST OF LIVING IN ALL 50 STATES

    Industry, a hospitality only professional network, pushes an initiative to increase line cook wages through data-backed salary recommendations in over 100 U.S. cities

    Chicago, IL (May 16, 2019)Industry, a hospitality only professional network with members in every state, announces results of a nationwide analysis of line cook wages. The report reveals a disparity between average annual salaries for line cooks compared to cost of living in over 100 major U.S. cities across 50 states.

    The survey sheds light on the current state of the line cook profession, and in support of Industry’s mission to make service and hospitality professionals successful in their careers, provides data-backed recommendations to employers for average hourly wages. The recommendations equip hiring managers with the tools and insight to stand out against competitors in an effort to recruit and retain top talent.

    The survey further revealed that while 87% of cooks care more about the company they work for than how much they get paid, 38% of line cooks say they would leave their job to make $0.50 more per hour. Noting that the work of a line cook is invaluable to the success of a kitchen, Matthew Cecil, Industry’s Chief Executive Officer says that data shows how cooks have options, and simply cannot be paid minimum wage.

    “The work of the line cook is often undervalued compared to the quality of talent needed for a thriving kitchen,” said Cecil. “For cooks, this lack of alignment can result in poor quality of life, which in turn impacts job performance. On the other side, low wages lend to a lackluster hiring pool for managers to recruit from - that’s a lose, lose for everyone.”
