The Gluten-Free Food Service (GFFS) Certification is a program of the non-profit Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) designed to work with all types of food services to establish best practices in the production of gluten-free meals. Certifications are customized to the specific needs of each food service establishment. The size, number of locations and type of food establishment are taken into consideration and unique standard operating procedures are created.

GFFS Certification is designed to establish trust with gluten-free consumers in a food services’ ability to provide safe gluten-free food. Consumers living gluten-free often fear to dine out because they have no control over the preparation of their food. GFFS certification helps food services overcome that mistrust and earn consumer loyalty. Food services, from restaurant chains to college campus dining halls to ice cream shops, have been certified by GFFS.

(May 7, 2019)—The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), the industry leader in the certification of gluten-free products and food services, will explain the benefits of gluten-free certification at the National Restaurant Association Show 2019 from May 18-21 at McCormick Place, Chicago. The NRA Show, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, draws restaurant owners and operators interested in the latest technologies, ingredients and industry trends. Attendees can visit Booth 786 to learn about the process and advantages of becoming gluten-free certified through GIG’s Gluten-Free Food Service (GFFS) certification program.

    Gluten-free patrons are savvier than ever when it comes to choosing restaurants. Certification not only secures their trust but also helps restaurants set up the procedures and policies to ensure the safety and quality of gluten-free meals. Surveys have found that 95 percent of gluten-free consumers are somewhat to very likely to try a new restaurant because it has completed the certification process. Additionally, 74 percent of gluten-free consumers are more likely to return to a restaurant that has achieved certification than an establishment that has not been certified.
