Hodo is comprised of a team of deliciousness-obsessed makers in Oakland, California who hand craft plant-based foods for people who love to eat well. Most well-known for it's organic, non-GMO product range of tofu and yuba found at retailers and restaurants throughout the US, Canada & Hong Kong. We provide R&D and white label service for the food industry, notably supplying plant-based proteins for small-scale to large-scale food service clients such as Superiority Burger, sweetgreen, Chipotle, Whole Foods Market, and Sunbasket.
At this year's National Restaurant Association show, we will also be partnering with Renewal Mill, telling the story of the full cycle of the soybean and our mutual interest and commitment to a sustainable food system.
Renewal Mill is a next-generation ingredients company that upcycles the byproducts of food manufacturing into premium ingredients and products. Our initial ingredient is okara flour, a high fiber, high protein gluten-free flour made from the soymilk pulp generated during soymilk production.
Okara is an extremely versatile superfood flour at a mass market price that adds nutrition and flavor to a wide range of products, including cookies and crackers, vegan meats, extruded puff snacks, gluten-free baking blends, and pancake mixes. From a functional perspective, okara is light in color and neutral in taste, it enhances moisture retention, and it can serve as a thickener. And with a carbon footprint 40% less than traditional wheat flour, okara flour is an environmentally-friendly choice.
