Cangshan is passionate about creating and sharing value through good design which we define as the perfect balance point between practical function and beautiful aesthetics. We find the best materials, craftspeople and communicators to create products that add value to the workflow and creative process of professional and amateur artists in the culinary world. Passion can be found anywhere, from the solid hard working teams we source our German, Swedish and Japanese high-alloy steels from to the adept, expert knifemakers ensuring every Cangshan knife is perfectly crafted to express and create.

    About Cangshan
    Henry Liu is the founder, owner and chief designer of Cangshan Cutlery, a fresh, new knife brand that came to market in 2015. With a focus on forward thinking aesthetics and professional caliber functionality Cangshan sought to bring something innovative to the culinary world. In the 3 years since their launch they have won 22 design awards including multiple Red Dot and German Design Awards for their exceptional design and craftsmanship of their cutlery.

    Thomas Keller is a world renowned chef known for his exceptional culinary skills and dedication to quality of the highest standards. He is the first and only American chef to hold multiple Michelin stars at his critically acclaimed restaurants: The French Laundry ®, Per Se ® and Bouchon ®. He is the author of five cookbooks, with more than one million copies in circulation. In 2017, chef Keller led a team from the United States to its first-ever gold medal in the Bocuse d’Or, a prestigious biannual competition that is regarded as the Olympics of the culinary world.

    Currently the S+ Series is offered in 5 color choices, Noir Black, Vanilla White, French Teal, Atlantic Blue and Jupiter Red. Each set includes a 5 inch santoku and a 3.5 inch serrated paring knife, both of which come with plastic sheaths in matching colors for convenient and safe storage.

After a recent update to this knife line the Z Series now features our proprietary high carbon 67 layer Damascus X-7 steel. This steel has a 61 Rockwell Hardness Rating giving it the perfect hardness to take a keen, Asian style edge.

    We developed X-7 steel to remedy the common issues high carbon steels have, namely brittleness and being easily susceptible to staining and corrosion. Our steel is more stain resistant than Japanese VG-10 high carbon steel while also boasting a 30% increase in edge retention.
